Waka feels dejected and after some encouragement and cheering up from the shinigami Waka and ryuk (who was bribed by apples) challange Near to a chariot race and the winner get to choose the next game (aka- just a ploy to get to play cowboys and indians)

If Ryuk were to write a fanfic of Teacher-san and Waka dating, Sho would read it but then bribe Ryuk with apples to keep it on the Downlow that he likes it.
